Romanian oil refineries find alternative to Russian crude

CHISINAU, Sep 21 (PRIME) -- All the oil refineries of Romania will be able to switch to an alternative source of crude after the embargo on Russian oil comes into force, Romanian Energy Minister Virgil-Daniel Popescu told reporters on Wednesday.

“The ministry held discussions with all the companies that own refineries in Romania, including Lukoil, about refining of crude after December 5 (when the oil embargo comes into force). They told us that they had found alternative sources of crude for after December 5,” he said.

Romania’s largest oil refinery Petrotel is owned by Russian oil major Lukoil, and it refines oil that is delivered from Russia by the Black Sea. Refineries Petromidia and Petrobrazi also operate in Romania.
